Tips & Event Policies

Before You Head Out - Be Prepared

Who To Follow?

Thursday and Friday pairings are determined before the tournament begins, with each golfer playing one day in the morning and the other day in the afternoon. Saturday and Sunday pairings are based on a player's score, with the leaders teeing off last.

You can find each day's pairings online as well as in the sports section of the Palm Beach Post. At the tournament, pairings sheets with tee times and the order of the groups along with the course map can be found in the Spectator Guides which will be available free of charge. The Spectator Guides are located at the tournament entrance and clearly indicated locations on the tournament grounds.

At the tournament, check the scoreboards to find out who the leaders are and where they are on course. Standard bearers will follow each group holding up the player's names. You can also spot a player by his caddie who wears the pro's name on his vest.

Have a Plan

How do you plan to watch your favorite players on the course—"Parade Style" or "Cross-Country Style"? Pick a spot and watch the field pass by ("Parade Style") or follow a particular player or group around the course ("Cross-Country Style"). Arrive early to reserve a spot, especially if you plan on watching the tournament "Parade Style."

Other Tips

• Review the course map prior to arriving at the tournament.
• Carpool whenever possible and remember where your car is parked.
• Tickets will be scanned upon entrance to the tournament. Please keep tickets available throughout the day as they must be presented if requested by any tournament officials.
• Wear headgear and sunglasses for protection from the sun, and use sunblock.
• Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration.
• Familiarize yourself with the First Aid Stations located on-site.
• Tournament information booths are located at the main entrance.
• Stay behind the gallery ropes and cooperate with the marshals.
• Small folding chairs are permitted, but must be removed from carrying case for inspection prior to entry.
• Kneel or sit down if you are in the front row.
• Remain still through each shot and do not move until all players in the group have played or completed the hole.
• Walk carefully—never run.
• In the event of an emergency, contact any uniformed tournament Marshal or Law Enforcement personnel in order to expedite medical assistance.

Golf Etiquette & Attire

Golf Etiquette

• Stay quiet and stand still when a player is about to hit the ball and until the shot is finished.
• "Hands in the air" means stop and be quiet while golfers are playing their shots.
• Do not stand behind or in line with a golfer's lie or line to pin.
• Never cross fairways, except at designated crossover areas marked by signage.
• If you are in a front row, kneel or sit down whenever possible to allow better viewing for those behind you.
• For your own safety, follow the directions of the tournament marshals.

Spectators will be removed immediately without warning for:

• Refusal to obey quiet signs or signals.
• Distracting or embarrassing a player.
• Making rude, vulgar, or other inappropriate comments or gestures toward a player.
• Booing or cheering at inappropriate times.

Suggested Golf Attire

Appropriate casual golf wear with comfortable walking shoes (soft spikes only). Spectators should have the following items on hand:

• Wind breaker
• Hat/visor
• Sunscreen
• Sunglasses
• Umbrella

Lost and found is located at the PGA National Resort & Spa Security Gatehouse.

Special Needs

Shuttle and Course Access

All shuttle buses to and from the parking lots are handicapped accessible. Corporate hospitality venues as well as concession areas are equipped with chair lifts and/or wheel chair ramps. Handicapped viewing areas can be located using the course map.

Restrooms

All restrooms on the tournament grounds are handicapped accessibly and can be found on the course map.

Emergencies

Should a problem or emergency occur, contact any uniformed tournament Marshal or law enforcement personnel in order to expedite medical assistance. First Aid tents are displayed on the course maps found in the complimentary Spectator Guides.

Weather

Check the weather before you leave for the tournament. Current weather conditions can be found at weather.com.

In the event of thunderstorms, lightning, or other severe weather, "Weather Warning" information will be displayed on the electronic scoreboards around the golf course. If inclement weather is approaching, spectators are advised to take precautions prior to play being suspended. If the siren sounds, seek shelter immediately.

Avoid the following:

• Open areas
• Hilltops/high places
• Isolated trees
• Golf carts
• Wire fences

USGA Rules of Golf

The USGA, in conjunction with the R&A; in St. Andrews, Scotland, writes, interprets and maintains the Rules of Golf to guard the tradition and integrity of the game. The two organizations are joint authors and owners of The Rules of Golf and Decisions on the Rules of Golf. Through an agreement with the R&A;, the Rules jurisdiction of the USGA includes only the United States, its possessions and Mexico.

Event Policies

PGA TOUR Mobile Device Policy

The Honda Classic allows patrons to carry and use mobile devices for the purpose of enhancing the tournament experience by giving instant access to leaderboards, social media channels and tournament information. Patrons will be able to use their cell phones to place calls only at designated areas of the tournament grounds. Fans will be allowed to receive and send text messages and check data on the golf course. Mobile devices must be on silent at all times. Mobile devices will be permitted to capture audio, video and photo content in all areas throughout tournament week. The Mobile Device Policy is posted on signs at the Main Entrance and throughout the golf course and will be communicated on scoreboards. Failure to comply with this policy may result in the revocation of your ticket.

Guidelines for Mobile Device Policy

Spectators are now allowed to capture photo, video and audio content on their mobile device all week and across all areas of the golf course - unless otherwise requested by players, security, or PGA TOUR officials to refrain from capturing content.

Receiving or placing phone calls is limited to areas away from competition (i.e. teeing grounds, tee shot landing areas and on/around putting greens.)

• What scope of usage is acceptable at The Honda Classic?
  • Devices must be on silent at all times; flash may not be used.
  • Devices may be used to capture video, audio and photos (content) in all areas throughout tournament week.
  • Content may be used for personal purposes (e.g., personal social media); no commercial use.
  • No live streaming or real-time coverage (e.g., no shot-by-shot coverage).
  • Data use (e.g., texting) is permitted in all areas throughout tournament week.
  • Phone calls are allowed only in designated areas.
  • Please be respectful of play and do not interfere with players, caddies or media.
  • All posted signage and instructions from tournament staff must be observed.

  Alcohol Policy

  • Spectators are not allowed to bring any type of alcohol to the tournament grounds.
  • Only one drink can be removed private or public hospitality area.
  • Alcoholic beverages will not be sold to the public any later than one hour prior to the scheduled end of competition.
  • Concession areas will close one hour after the end of competition.
  • Please drink responsibly.

  • Pets except for service animals

  • Video Cameras at any time
  • Cameras are NOT permitted Thursday through Sunday
  • Radios, Televisions, or other electronic noise producing items
  • Whistles, Horns or Noise Makers
  • Signs or Banners
  • Alcoholic Beverages may not enter or leave the Tournament
  • Outside Food or Beverages may not enter the Tournament except for medical or infant needs
  • Plastic, Metal, or Glass Cups, Cans or Containers of any kind except for medical or infant needs
  • Coolers of any kind.
  • Weapons of any kind may not enter the tournament, including but not limited to firearms or knives
  • Computers or Laptops
  • Fireworks
  • Illegal Substances
  • Laser Pointers
  • Poles or Rods
  • No other items deemed unlawful or dangerous by the PGA TOUR/Tournament Security Officials

  All spectators will be checked by a metal detector prior to boarding shuttles from parking. For your convenience, leave all prohibited items in your vehicle. Any prohibited items must be forfeited or returned to your car.

  Acceptable Items

  Items spectators are permitted to bring into the tournament:

  • Bags (opaque) not exceeding 6"x 6"x 6" in their natural state
  • Clear tote bags, plastic, vinyl, or other carry items not exceeding 12"x 6"x 12"
  • A one (1) gallon clear re-sealable plastic bag may be permitted.
  • At the tournaments discretion, food may enter the Tournament in a clear plastic bag not to exceed the size of a one (1) gallon clear re-sealable plastic bag
  • All mobile phones, tablets and PDA’s must be on silent mode and used in accordance with the posted Mobile Device Policy
  • Still Camera without case and Lens smaller than 6" (Monday – Wednesday only)
  • Umbrellas without sleeve
  • Collapsible chairs, without chair bags
  • Portable radios w/headset
  • Strollers, small diaper bags, plastic baby bottles, and other baby supplies, (infant must be with carrier)
  • Binoculars without binocular case.
  • An exception will be made for fans needing to bring medical supplies into the tournament. These medically necessary items will be permitted after proper inspection at one of the admissions gates
