FINS CUP PRO-AM RETURNS TO HONDA CLASSIC
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL - Miami Dolphins players past and present will tee off at the 2011 edition of the Fins Cup Pro-Am, a celebrity-laden Monday prelude to The Honda Classic at PGA National Resort & Spa.
Nine former and present Dolphins players are scheduled to appear including Quarterback Chad Henne, punter Brandon Fields, tight end John Denny, and safety Tyrone Culver from the current roster. Former Dolphins scheduled to participate are Bob Griese, Mark Duper, Bob Brudzinski, Keith Byars and Kim Bokamper.
Henne and Griese will be paired with Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross.
The Pro-Am will tee off with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. Each group will have a Miami Dolphin player and a PGA TOUR professional. Admission to the tournament on Monday is free.
Ross and prominent sports attorney Rick Horrow became co-chairs of the Fins Cup Pro-Am in 2009. Ross wants to use his role as Dolphins owner to enhance his longtime support of the South Florida community and his involvement in the Pro-Am at The Honda Classic is another example of his commitment to the area. The chairmanship allows him to support the PGA TOUR and the charity of Palm Beach County's largest sporting event while also participating in an event tied to one of his great passions, the game of golf.
Horrow, architect of 103 deals worth more than $13 billion in sports and urban infrastructure projects around the country, created the Miami Sports Authority in 1981 and is and has been the Sports Business Analyst for CNN, Fox Sports, BBC, Westwood One, and CBS SportsLine. He and Ross are close friends who both graduated from Miami Beach High and are lifetime South Florida sports enthusiasts. A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Richard David Kahn Melanoma Foundation in the honor of Horrow's late father.
