Palm Desert, CA (Sports Network) - Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus will team up to play Sergio Garcia and Lee Trevino in next year's edition of the Battle at Bighorn.
The best-ball match is scheduled for Monday night, July 29 at Bighorn Golf Club in southern California. ABC Sports will televise the event.
This will be the fourth made-for-TV, prime-time event for Woods. He beat David Duval at Sherwood Country Club in 1999, then lost to Garcia at Bighorn in 2000. This year, Woods and Annika Sorenstam teamed up to beat Duval and Karrie Webb in an alternate-shot match at Bighorn.
Woods is chasing Nicklaus' records in golf history. The current No. 1 player in the world has six major championships, while Nicklaus, who was voted the greatest male golfer of the 20th century, has won 18 professional majors.
The two have played together in competition just twice, having been paired for the first two rounds of the 2000 PGA Championship.
The winners of next year's event will split $1.2 million, while the losers will share $500,000. Another $300,000 will go to charity.
