Final Third Round Update
After a disappointing bunker shot, resulting in a bogey on the 18th, Doug Tewell dropped to 13-under-par, two shots ahead of Mike McCullough and Larry Nelson at 11-under.
Mike McCullough is the only player in the field with three rounds in the 60s. He now has run off eight straight sub-par rounds and six straight scores in the 60s.
Tewell finally broke his bogey-less streak after two rounds of play. On the second hole Tewell more than made up for his misfortune with a chip-in eagle on the 523 yard, par five.
Tewell’s 54-hole score of 13-under 203 is the lowest since 1997 when Gil Morgan set the three-round tournament record of 17-under 199.
In the history of The Countrywide Tradition, six of 10 third-round leaders have gone on to win the Lyle Anderson Cup.
At 9-under-par, Tom Wargo is looking to play solid and contend for the title on Sunday.
Jim Ahern joined Tom McGinnis as the only players in the field to make two eagles in a round. Ahern made his eagles on the par-5 8th and 12th hole. McGinnis made his pair of eagles in the opening round of the event.

Afternoon conditions at the Tradition are sun-filled skies with a 5-10mph wind and temperatures reaching 80 degrees leaving firm greens and a more difficult approach shot.
Doug Tewell is holding strong to his lead with a 14-under, Scottsdale resident Mike McCullough is on his tail at 9-under through 11 holes.
Even for the day are Tom Wargo and Larry Nelson, 8-under for the tournament and good enough for third place.
Five players are all at 7-under for the day, including Hale Irwin, Allen Doyle and Gil Morgan.

After two consecutive days, Doug Tewell remains on top of the leaderboard at 11-under-par through five holes of play. Tewell is working on his first wire-to-wire finish on the SENIOR TOUR after puttingttogether two solid rounds thus far at the Countrywide Tradition.
In second place are Mike McCullough and Larry Nelson at 9-under-par. Nelson tied the course record on Friday’s second round with a 64.
Bruce Fleischer has sole possesion of third place at 8-under followed by Allen Doyle in fourth.
Just off the pace are Wargo, Irwin and Ahern at 6-under.
