Tewell has regained his lead but this time by two-strokes and two to play. On the thirteenth, Tewell missed an easy five-footer just before a swarm of bees hovered the green, forcing everyone to remain still until they passed. Tewell then redeemed himself by sinking a 20-foot birdie putt on the fourteenth, moving him to 10-under-par.
Two shots back are Mike McCullough and Tom Wargo, both whom shot 69, 3-under for the day ending the second round in second place at 8-under-par.
Gil Morgan is just four shots off the pace at 6-under through 16.
Senior Tour notables Fleisher, Irwin, Doyle, and Nelson still have the Lyle Anderson Cup, in sight.
Tournament Update as of 12:30 pm PT
Early-morning leader Mike McCullough is in the clubhouse with a 69, 8-under for the tournament and a one-stroke lead. McCullough who tied for ninth place last year at the Tradition is looking to improve his place this year
Creeping up on McCullough is Doug Tewell and Tom Wargo at 7-under-par. In his ninth career Tradition, Wargo has three birdies and one bogey through 14 holes.
After starting the day at 2-under-par and in a tie at twelfth place Hale Irwin has found himself near the top of the leaderboard at 6-under-par.
Tournament Update as of 10:30am PT
Scottsdale resident Mike McCullough feels right at home at Desert Mountain by starting the day with a four birdie run on 2, 3, 6, and 8. McCullough jumped to the top of the leaderboard with a three-stroke lead over Tom Wargo.
Yesterday’s leader, Doug Tewell is scheduled to tee off at 11:10am and will have to chase McCullough after a fine start.
Tied for fourth place are Jerry McGee, Terry Dill, and Bob Gilder at 4-under-par.
