Jesper Parnevik gains his first win of 2001 at the The Honda Classic with a score of 72. With a winner’s check of $761,876, Parnevik now exceeds the $7 million mark in career money. In addition to Parnevik becoming the fifth player to win The Honda Classic as a resident of Florida, he becomes the first Swedish born player to win five PGA TOUR titles.
Mark Calcavecchia lips out his final putt, which would have put him in to a playoff with Parnevik. Mark finishes in a three-way tie for second with a final score of 70. The other two players in second place are Craig Perks (66) and Geoff Ogilvy (69). All of the top 4 guys (including Parnevik) bogeyed the last hole.
