NAPLES, Fla. – The ACE Group Classic and The Bonita Bay Group announced today that TwinEagles Golf and Country Club in Naples will host The ACE Group Classic, a SENIOR PGA TOUR event, in 2002, 2003 and 2004.
"I am delighted with the SENIOR PGA TOUR’s decision to move The ACE Group Classic to TwinEagles, and that TwinEagles is back in the tournament golf scene," said TwinEagles course designer Jack Nicklaus. "The fellows who played in The Office Depot Father/Son in 1999 truly seemed to enjoy the golf course, and many of the same players support The ACE Group Classic each year. I certainly hope my schedule allows me to play in the event."
TwinEagles features a Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II co-designed championship golf course, which is in the process of being certified as an Audubon Cooperative Signature Sanctuary. The 47,000-square-foot clubhouse was created in the image of the finest Scottish manor.
"We are very excited about our new partnership with The Bonita Bay Group and TwinEagles," said Bob Burris, tournament director of The ACE Group Classic. "The quality of the course, the beautiful clubhouse and the superb amenities make TwinEagles an ideal fit for the tournament."
Adds Ed Rodgers, vice president of The Bonita Bay Group and general manager of the company’s amenities division, "The Bonita Bay Group is very excited to host The ACE Group Classic. The tournament is one of the best professional golf events on the tour and offers an ideal showcase for our club and community."
"We are confident the move to TwinEagles Golf & Country Club will have a very positive impact on The ACE Group Classic and look forward to working with The Bonita Bay Group over the next four years," said PGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem. "TwinEagles has already proven to be an excellent site for the SENIOR PGA TOUR. We wish to thank WCI Communities, Inc. for being such a fine host the last five years at Bay Colony and Pelican Marsh."
