Volunteer Committee Descriptions

Caddie Services
Caddie registration and staffing of Caddie area during tournament week. This assignment begins Monday, March 5th.

Cart Control
Responsible for assigning carts in the morning to various committees, as well as collecting, cleaning and charging carts in the evening. The duties are performed Saturday prior to the tournament through Monday after the tournament.

Child Care
Provides child care for the PGA Players’ children. The service starts on Wednesday (tournament week) and runs through Sunday. Daily hours start early AM until the end of play each day. The center provides lunch and snacks daily- arts and crafts, story time, TV-video movies, games, naps, Number of children vary each day and the age group runs from 6 weeks to 7 years old.

Communications
Handles all incoming calls during tournament week. Assigns beepers and mobile phones daily that are used throughout tournament week. Make sure all communication devices are returned at the end of the day for recharging purposes.

Driving Range
Operates and secures the driving range throughout tournament week. Shuttles PGA Players and Amateurs to and from the driving range.

Greens Reporters
Reports scores electronically, via radio or phone, to the Scoring Center. Assigned a specific hole on course.

Hospitality / Volunteer Food Services
This committee is assigned to the Volunteer area. Duties include serving food to the volunteers and keeping the area clean, as well as assisting in the delivery of snacks, coffee, soft drinks, etc. to various committees in the morning and afternoon.

Manpower
This group is utilized throughout the tournament to provide assistance to the Tournament Staff and various Committees. May include delivery of soft drinks, water, ice and packages.

Marshal
This committee of volunteers are outside all day, exposed to heat and cold, sun, rain and wind. A marshal works as a team sharing duties and opportunities on the course whether it be working on the tee, green or landing areas. They learn to use arm movements as tools for guiding spectators or players in the direction you want them to take, noise control, etc. They also assist when a Pro’s ball goes out of the field of play.

On Course Services
This committee is responsible for ensuring that all areas are properly provided with water and fruit on a daily basis and throughout the day as needed.

Pro Family Center
The Family Center is open to PGA Pros and their families from Monday until the end of play on Sunday. The committee will maintain this area during these seven days. The volunteers also serve as security for this area.

Program Distribution
This committee is responsible for ensuring that all Programs and Pairing Sheets are distributed to the general public as they arrive at the Honda Classic. Distributions are made as early as possible on each day. Pairing sheets are also continually stocked in "bird feeders" throughout the course.

Rover
A Rover is responsible to ensure safe, timely passages for the Pro Golfers from green to tee. They also assist Hole Marshals with drop zones at various holes as needed. Rover volunteers do walk all 18 holes.

Scoring Control
This committee is the Main Hub for all tournament scoring. This committee receives all scores from each hole, then final scores are distributed to different areas of the tournament.

Scoring Tents
This committee is located on the 9th and 18th holes. They are responsible for collecting score cards. They check to make sure that there is a score in each box. They also verify scores with each PGA Player.

Security
This committee checks credentials and secures many areas of the tournament. They are involved with the media and pressroom area, skybox suites, bleachers, locker room area, etc.

Tournament Transportation
This committee is responsible for getting all fleet cars on site, marked and distributed to Committee People and Pros. During the week of the tournament, the transportation volunteers pick up Pros and their families at hotels and airports-drive them to and from the course as requested. They are responsible for keeping the cars clean and making sure there is enough gas. They also run any type of errands or pick-ups that are requested by PGA, Tournament Office, etc.

Volunteer Transportation
Responsible for transporting all volunteers from the volunteer parking lot to the volunteer tent. This committee transports volunteers to different locations throughout the course.

Volunteer Uniform Distribution
This committee unpacks, sorts and counts all the uniforms as they come in for the tournament. They run the store during volunteer distribution days in February. They also sell shirts from the past years and outerwear during tournament week to the volunteers. Location of this volunteer store is located in the Volunteer tent.

Walking Scorers
This volunteer walks (the whole course) with the Pro, Caddie and Standard Bearer. The Walking Scorer records the number of shots that the PGA Player makes to complete each hole and forwards the information back to the Scoring Center. First year scorers must work one Pro-Am event.

Will Call
This committee is located in a trailer/tent outside the tournament grounds. They service any spectators that need to pick up tournament passes and/or parking passes that have been left for them either by Sponsors, PGA Players or from the financial trailer.
