Fleisher, Nelson lead way at Verizon

LUTZ, Fla. (Feb. 15) -- Bruce Fleisher and Larry Nelson have won the last two events in Tampa. Advantage Nelson.

While Fleisher is the defending champion at the Verizon Classic, Nelson is the best player on the Senior PGA Tour these days, and on Friday, he will begin his quest for a third win in four events this season.

Nicklaus shares early lead at Verizon

The Golden Bear is back on the leaderboard.

Jack Nicklaus shot a 4-under 67 on Friday for a share of the first-round lead with Doug Tewell in the Verizon Classic.

"I managed my game well," Nicklaus of his bogey-free round on the TPC at Tampa Bay. "I didn't play one of my better rounds of golf, but I scored one of my better rounds."

Canizares in first at ACE

Spain's Jose Maria Canizares shot a 4-under-par 68 to take a one-stroke lead over Dana Quigley and Mike McCullough in the ACE Group Classic.

Canizares, seeking his first senior title, made a 25-foot eagle putt on No. 16 and played the final four holes in 4 under on Friday. He lost to Lanny Wadkins last year on the third hole of a playoff.

"I like difficult courses," Canizares said of the Pelican Marsh Golf Club course. "Every year I try to win. I need a little more luck, maybe, I don't know."

Morgan grabs lead at ACE

While Larry Nelson gets all the accolades and a host of others attract attention on the Senior PGA Tour, Gil Morgan just goes about his business.

Morgan shot a 5-under 67 on Saturday to grab a one-shot edge after two rounds at the ACE Group Classic, where 13 players are within three shots of the lead.

Gilder grabs lead at Royal Caribbean

Gilder looking for win in first Senior PGA event

KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. (Feb. 3) -- Rookie Bob Gilder blistered the back nine for the second straight day and grabbed the lead after 36 holes Saturday in the Royal Caribbean Classic. Gilder had four birdies and an eagle on the back nine in his first Senior PGA event, the first full-field tournament of the year.

Eastwood cruises to lead at Royal Caribbean

Bob Eastwood credits his new putter and a renewed commitment to fitness for helping him to the first-round lead Friday in the Royal Caribbean Classic.

The 54-year-old from player Stephenville, Texas, collected 14 points in the Senior Tour event and holds a three-point advantage over Andy North and Rex Caldwell.
