GOLD COAST, Australia (March 1) -- England's Diane Barnard shot a 7-under-par 65 Thursday to take a 1-stroke lead over New Zealander Lynette Brooky after the first round of the ANZ Australian Ladies Masters.

Karrie Webb, trying for her fourth consecutive Masters title at Royal Pines, was tied for third, two strokes behind Barnard, along with Sweden's Sophie Gustafson and Scotland's Kathryn Marshall.
