Parnevik Maintains Lead It wasn’t easy as the players kept making birdie after birdie, but Jesper Parnevik managed to finish in the lead after the third round of The Honda Classic with a –18 after 54 holes. The remainder of the leaderboard is covered with plenty of name players including Mark Calcavecchia (-15), Geoff Ogilvy (-14, T3), Dan Forsman(-14, T3), Lee Janzen (-13, T5) and John Daly (-13, T5). Lehman, Parnevik on top at 3-under PGA TOUR veteran Tom Lehman and Jesper Parnevik are leading the pack at 3-under-par through nine holes of play. These co-leaders teed off together in the fourth group at 7:36 a.m. Joel Edwards, Andrew Magee, and Carl Paulson are following close behind in a tie for third place at 2-under-par. Swede in the lead After a most beautiful morning, Jesper Parnevik posted a 65, 7-under-par for the lead. "It was definitely day to shoot a low score," added Parnevik, when referring to windless conditions. Although his driver didn't perform as anticipated, Jesper relied on dead aim accuracy with his irons and putter. Parnevik is looking for his first win in 2001 after coming off a two-win season and hip surgery last year. Aussie rookies jump all over Parnevik Jesper Parnevik, Geoff Ogilvy, and Ben Ferguson found themselves atop the leaderboard at the end of play Thursday with a 7-under-par 65. This three-way tie was produced in part by the superb course conditions and only a bit of breeze to counter the sweltering sun. Geoff Ogilvy and Ben Ferguson have a lot in common. Not only do they have the same score at the end of the first round of the Honda Classic but they are also rookies on the PGA TOUR and originally from Australia. Celebrity Skins Challenge at the Honda Classic One of the lesser know players today was Nick Thompson, a Broward County senior at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School who has qualified for the U.S. Amateur in 1999 and represented Team USA last summer in Europe.
