Top three at Players Championship move up in rankings

Top three at Players Championship move up in rankings

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Craig Perks became the first golfer to make the Players Championship his first win on the PGA Tour on Sunday.

With that victory, Perks moved up an eye-opening 139 places to No. 64 in this week's World Golf Rankings.

Perks chipped in for eagle at 16 in the final round and then holed a long birdie putt at the famous par-three 17th at the TPC at Sawgrass. He saved par at 18 after holing another chip from off the green.

Perks was not the only contender to make a serious rise in the World Rankings. Stephen Ames, who completed his round two hours before Perks finally won, took second and vaulted 79 notches to finish one spot behind Perks at 65.

Lietzke comes from behind to win in Mexico

Naucalpan, Mexico (Sports Network) - Bruce Lietzke came from five shots down on Sunday to shoot a bogey-free 67 and win the Audi Senior Classic, his third title in 14 starts on the Senior Tour. His eight-under-par 208 was good enough for a one-shot win over Hale Irwin and Gary McCord, who in the end, was the only player who could catch Lietzke.

The swing took place when Lietzke was at 17 and with McCord playing the 16th in the group behind. Lietzke knocked his tee shot 12 feet from the hole at the par-three 17th and watched his ball drop into the left side of the cup to make birdie and match McCord at eight-under par.

McCord, who took the one-shot lead with a 10-foot birdie putt from the fringe at the 15th, drove into the right rough at 16.
