As part of The Honda Classic's plan to extend the reach of the tournament over a
52 week platform, the tournament has created The Golf Exchange, a comprehensive
golf-themed show which now airs each Sunday morning from 8 a.m. – 10 a.m
Russ Evans, who has broadcast in the local market the past six years, produces and
hosts the weekly show along with Pat Rooney Jr., chairman of the board for the Palm
Beach County Golf Association.
"The Honda Classic and IGP Management took a seasonal golf radio show, previously
running only seven months a year, and brought it up to a completely different level
as part of the tournament's long-term branding plan," Evans said. "The local golfing
community now has a 52-week program with PGA TOUR insiders perspective, while The
Honda Classic has a platform to raise awareness for the tournament and its surrounding
events to the South Florida community."
The show features coverage of tournament play on the PGA, LPGA and Champions Tours,
frequent interviews of touring pros and television analysts, and discussions of
local golf events. Sports business expert Rick Horrow also has a weekly segment
on the show to discuss various golf business and law-related topics.
"The introduction of this radio show is a continuation of The Honda Classic's efforts
to extend our brand onto a 52-week platform throughout the area," Honda Classic
Executive Director Kenneth R. Kennerly said. "When people think of The Honda Classic,
we want them to relate to more than simply a great PGA TOUR golf tournament. We
have added several support events and this radio show to advance that cause."
The show broadcasts live from the ESPN 760AM studios as well as remote locations
throughout the Palm Beach County community, every Sunday morning from 8 a.m. – 10
a.m.. It is South Florida’s only local golf radio show, and the only show controlled
by a PGA TOUR event.
