Classic Facts
For over 35 years, The Honda Classic has showcased golf's legends and given prospect to its rising stars. Established as the Jackie Gleason Inverrary Classic in 1972, it changed its name to the Honda Classic in 1982. The 2007 Honda Classic in its new home at PGA National Resort & Spa's Champion Course drew record-breaking attendance and offered a purse of $5.5 million and a winner's share of $990,000. The Honda Classic tradition continues in style on the truly historic Champion Course. These storied grounds have hosted 20 major championships -- more than any other venue in the country including the 1983 Ryder Cup Matches and the 1987 PGA Championship.
